You will get taller. Remember, you are only 12. I was 5 foot my freshmen year. Now going on my senior year I am almost 6 foot.
Dont tread on it. Almost all CFers reach puberty and growth spurts late. Edited: 06/08/2009 at 02:54 AM by ChevyZ71 |

Hi, I try to stay out of this section because I think it should just be for you teens but thought I'd post to this one.
You aren't short being 4'11" at age 12. Here are my girls, both with CF. Rachel is first, is almost 19 and 4'11 and 3/4". Give or take depending on who measures her on any given day or time. Once she was measured at 5', she put that one on her driver's license. Anna is 22 and 5'5". Rachel just takes after me and my family and Anna more her dad's side. Take a look at your family, not just mom and dad but aunts and uncles, grandparents on both sides. If they are taller then most likely you have some more growing to do. Eat well and you will get there, as with everything, it just takes some more time. ------------------------- ![]() Liza Proud Mom to Rachel 20 yrs & Anna 23 yrs - Dbl Lung Tx 7-25-07 |

I am almost 18 and I'm only 5'1 People in my family are also short so I am probably getting it from them too.

When I was your age, I was about the same height. When I got to be about 14 or 15, I grew a lot and have pretty consistently stayed at 5'7" since. I am 21 now. My brother however, who is 23 and also has CF, has always been pretty tall for his age and skinny. He is now probably about 6'2". It could be partly because of CF, or it could just be how you are naturally supposed to be growing.

Honestly, it could go either way. I'm 26 years old and I'm 4'11". Haven't grown at all since 8th grade. But I LOVE being short. And trust me, when you are older and smaller you will get a lot of attention. Yes, it's difficult at times. I always have to present myself in a very professional manner in the work place since people will tend not to take someone who looks young as seriously. I still get carded to buy lottery tickets so I look like I'm about 18. But I've never experienced any real disadvantages due to my height. You will get used to it.

I'm 18 and 4'11". I always hoped I would get taller, but it never really happened. But it could be genetics, because my mom is 5'1" and my dad is 5'9". But dont worry if you end up staying that short, think of all the heels you can wear! And I've also found that a lot of guy like small girls, lol, because we're easy to pick up and so tiny to cuddle up to! So there are plenty of pluses being on the short side. The only thing that bugs me is I can never reach the top shelves in grocery stores! lol

I'm 16 and a junior in high school. I had the same problem as you when i was 12 i was around your height and weight and it was frustrating but you have to give it time (yeah i know everyone says that). Know i'm 5'2" and weigh around 98 pounds and there are people in my school that are shorter than me.
