It certainly helped my asthma component. I didn't have as many of those types of flares and my chest didn't feel as tight. I now use Symbicort, with similar results. The only side effects that I can think of as far as the Advair diskus goes is hoarseness and a sore throat on occassion which was remedied by rinsing with water.

My PFTs are about 3-4% higher now roughly. In general, I have less tightness in the mornings now as well. I haven't had any side effects so far at the 250/50 dose. I plan to keep using it into the indefinite future.

I don't know if it was Pulmozyme or Advair, but my PFT's increased significantly when I started both...from FEV 75% to 95-100%.

I'm on pulmozyme, albuterol, and advair discus. I notice an immediate improvement with albuterol, but not with advair. I haven't had a pft done since last month when I was prescribed this regimine. Not sure if pfts will improve because of it..yet. And if they DO improve, I wont know which med to give the credit for it.

I was on advair for a couple of years. I felt that it worked great until i started getting a lot of bouts of hemoptysis. Once i stopped taking advair the hemoptysis stopped. I guess i did not respond to this drug very well.

I was on advair discus. It was terrible for me. It caused these bizarre lung rails. At times I couldnt breathe and could not catch my breath. I would bend over and pray that my lungs would open to let air in. It was horrible, I knew it was the advair. It felt like I can actually pinpoint where the blockage was...and I could hear it too! I am on symbicort. No problems with that drug.

Advair (250/50) has been a lifesaver for me. My PFT's increased from 70% up to 95% from being on it. I take it twice a day and can notice a difference when I don't. It really helped to open up my small airways as well. Good luck!

Agree with Jennifer. Tightness, SOB and wheezing ensued. I discontinued and may try something else at a later time.
