My CF doc put me on zyvox and told me to stop taking my zoloft. I was on 100 mg a day and was told to take 50 mg for tree days, 25 mg for 2 days, and then start on the zyvox. Well being the impatient person I am, I decided to quit taking zoloft cold turkey without tapering my dosage. I took my last 100 mg zoloft Thursday and took my first 600 mg zyvox on Friday night. Now today I've been feeling really dizzy and my anxiety is thru the roof (I've been reading about serotonin syndrome and lactic acidosis from mixing the two meds and worrying myself sick about it). Anyways I'm just feeling really out of it today and when I stand up I get dizzy. Also earlier today I asked my mom if she had eaten my hamburger because I forgot that I ate it. Has anyone else experienced this and could this be from stopping the Zoloft so abruptly? I'm just worried because I didn't start experiencing this until today and I stopped zoloft 3 days ago...

Hi sara

Yeh, i know you shouldnt stop taking anti depressants suddenly because you may have an increase in symtoms...I dont know what Zyvox is...you probably shouls speak to your doc or pharmacist, sounds like its due to you stopping the zoloft....did the doc tell you to leave a couple of weeks between starting the Zyvox?

Hope you're feeling better today

i've been through the anti=depressant/zyvox issue before.
i've been told by 3 different docs that zyvox should be separated by 2 weeks minimum-optimally 1 month!
i assume your doctor wants you on zyvox pretty quickly. just be careful and double check that starting zyvox so fast is ok.
i was on lexapro for 6 months. i stopped it to ttc, but while i was on lex my doc wanted to use zyvox, and we had to use somethign else.
when i decided to start lex i was on zyvox. of course, i had to finish my course of it and wait 3 weeks before starting my lex.

after stopping lex i had bad bouts of dizziness and anxiety-a couple of days were through the roof. but it faded very fast. within 3 days i felt fine after d/c the lex.
my advice to you would be, def double check with your doc about spacing the zoloft and zyvox. i'm sure you are in good hands, but its always good to check. docs have alot on their minds.

don't read too much online about withdrawal symptoms and ect!! just relax. your symptoms are pretty normal sounding. if you feel really scared-def call your psych.
try to avoid caffeine. i know this is hard, bc i was soooo tired after d/c lexapro and coffee was the first thing i wanted. but don't! it just adds to the nervous feeling.
be really careful with driving!! i drove somewhere the day after i stopped lex and when i got there, i totally forgot geting in my car and driving there...
